OUR HOPE IS TO BEGIN TO ACCEPT NEW MEMBERSHIP APPLICATIONS IN THE FALL OF 2011.
IF YOU ARE ALREADY A MEMBER OR DESCENDANT OF A MEMBER, PLEASE CONTACT ANY OF THE OFFICERS OR BOARD MEMBERS.
Membership into the Cherokee of California does not entitle you to Medical or any other State or Federal benefits.
• Members must be of Cherokee descent by blood or by treaty. No blood quantum is required.
• All information will always be kept confidential.
• Applications must be notarized unless the Cherokee applicant includes a photo copy of the federally recognized card or a card from BIA.
• A photo copy of the Birth Certificate is required for each Cherokee applying for membership.
• A photo copy of a photo I.D. is also required for permanent records.
• Non-Cherokee applicant may apply as an associate member. Need application form, photo copy of birth certificate, ancestor chart. Notarization not required.
• Minor children need separate applications, which are to be attached to adult’s application. Notarization not required.
• If minor child is married follow the guide lines of an adult applicant.
• All applicants must submit an ancestor chart with enough information to show a concerted effort in research to the satisfaction of the Executive Board. Indicate with an asterisk which ancestors are of Cherokee blood.
• A current official application form is to be used for all applications.
• Complete application and mail, along with the other required items to the above address. Include a check or money order to cover processing fee. Include SASE to mail your membership card. Please allow 90 days for processing response.
• There is a non-refundable processing fee of $20.00 for each Cherokee adult or associate application and a $10.00 fee for each minor child, valid until minor turns 18 years old.
• Subscription to the official newsletter is $6.00 per year.
• Cherokees of CA does not do research for individuals.
• Cherokees of California, Inc. does not have yearly dues, at this time.
